I am looking for some land to put a non-traditional home on. That is, I am tired of the wasteful use of wood (rots anyway), and am interested in metal. I am also interested in using catchment water and an outhouse.

But I need to know whether these types of homes are allowed in the area. My lighting and heating would be solar. It would be for three people, and a dog. Also, I would put a fence around the area, to contain my small dog, but I need to know about that too.

I am leaning toward the container because of the design possibilities.

containers rot too (rust) - 40 footers are difficult to place and both 40's and 20's twist if they're not level and that makes the doors janky - a decent 20 footer is gonna cost you 2k maybe - you could do a lot more with that money if you used salvaged materials
