March 18, 2006 Minutes

Board Members Present: Dave Vanderwalle, Louie Miller, Tim Hill, Kolea Quincey and Fred Benardella.

Meeting Called To Order: 10:02AM

Treasurer’s Report:
Beginning balance: $35,086.08 Trust At: $183,744.00
Debits: 992.51
Credits: 11,590.00
Balance: 45,683.57
Park: approx 1,500.00
Fire Station: approx 1,500.00

Abandoned Cars: No cars removed in the last month. Remember the county program to remove them from private property at no charge is still available but this program will end June 30th.

Neighborhood Watch: Ten reports or more of pigs creating havoc. Tim has caught and removed 27 in the last month. He has been using his own traps and a motion was passed that the Association purchase a trap to be used where needed. Monthly Neighborhood Watch meetings are still held but no attendance by association members.

Park Report: Poles are drilled and as soon as the weather breaks Dave will have them installed. Still under consideration are: swing set, trail, covered area, picnic table.

Volunteer Fire Department: No calls in the last month. Training is still with Volacano on the fourth Tuesday of the month but now include Fern Forrest. Looking to complete the Fire House and get a final inspection. Then power and catchment tank.

Road Report: Potholes are being filled. Reflectors on pavement at stop signs still not done as the weather again is not co-operating but should be completed soon. Still waiting to receive bids on cutting back the trees at the entrance to Eden Roc. Letter was received asking for road repairs. One load was already dumped and another is scheduled to ease the situation but more and more roads are in need of repair and funding is limited. Last year nearly 6000.00 was spent dropping gravel. New Stop signs are being ordered to replace those that are in need of repair. Mr. Christe had letters prepared to send to the county engineer and our county representatives requesting a left turn lane be put in on Highway 11 to South Kopua road. This intersection is becoming more hazardous.

Old Business: Mr. Bill Christe has also helped to put together the packet of information to be given out to association members to let them know what is going to be done. It also will contain contact and other info. It looked very good and he will try to finalize it this month. It will also be mailed to new property owners when they purchase.

New Business: Kolea has scheduled for the week of March 23rd a tank and sprayers for the Coqui Frogs. Funds approved to purchase the lime, citric acid and needed supplies to help curb their growth. Looking at getting a separate phone number for association business with an answering machine. Looking at raising the association fees as we have limited income to accomplish things. More and more people are demanding things and we would like to accommodate them within reason.
