August 20, 2005 MINUTES

Board Members Present: Dave Vanderwalle, Louie Miller, Karen Bender, Mike Schulz and Tim Hill

Meeting to Order: 10:00 a.m.

Treasurer’s Report:
Beginning balance: $48600.61 Trust $181,012.00
Debits: 681.27
Credits: 2000.35
Balance: 49954.34 $40,000 allocated to road paving
Park: 239.22
Fire Station: 1624.03

Abandoned Cars: New program county will tow up to 2 cars for no charge off of private property, need to call and get forms 961-8083.

Neighborhood Watch: Gunfire reported at the park (not sure if true) no one there. Drive by shooting in back of sub-div. previously Tom Brandt’s house got shot, Samoans house was shot at girl friend was arrested.
No show at NHW meeting. Need volunteers 1st Sat of each month 10:00 a.m.
Someone was shooting on 26th. It is illegal in any sub-div. Need to go to gun club. Call Police.
Squatters on road 22.

Park Report: Pipes still need to be drilled for fence. Mike Butcher said he would do it. Rim for bb hoop still up. Door on F.S. needs to be repaired. Building needs to be painted. $300-400 ok’d by board. Swing set was brought up - need $$ maybe next year. All park monies are donated. Fund raiser was suggested. Garage sale cancelled. Call school district see if they have any swing sets they want to get rid of.

Volunteer Fire Dept.: Meeting was held, went over our district. No calls last month.

Road Report: Ohia still scheduled for resurfacing. Speed bumps at end of Ohia and Kahikopele and end of Palainui and Kahikopele. Mike Schulz says we have no idea how to build safe roads. He says bumps are dangerous. Mike wants to hire traffic safety consultant from Honolulu. He is going to get a quote to see how much consultants would cost. Mike and Tim are against speed bumps. Dave, Louie and Karen are for them. Tim says signs that were supposed to have been ordered were still on back order. Motion was made to still put up speed bumps vote was 2 yea 3 ney. Louie said he had to vote no due to no speed bump signs. Vote was taken to still get speed bump signs in 2 yea 3 ney.
Buying a backhoe was suggested. Road money was for roads only not machines. Karen said safety study won’t make people stop. Rumble strips were suggested. Will anything ever be decided? Speeders were brought up – Blue form will be brought to next meeting.
Rock still being dumped on side road’s holes.

Old Business: Recycling project is still scheduled for September 17 Saturday. Community clean up (side roads) container will be dropped at park.

New Business: No new business
